The Sunraysia Australian Football Commission Limited
In 2011, AFL Victoria commissioned the Peter Jackson review into football structures and community football governance in Regional Victoria.
As a result of that review, it was found that regional areas required decentralised authority, with regional hubs to be set up allowing ‘local people to make local decisions’.
The Sunraysia Australian Football Commission was established with five independent directors to sit on the board and convene over matters that affect all the leagues and clubs within the region equally.
The Commission also hosts the Sunraysia Women’s Football League, which trades under the Commission ABN, and the Richmond NGA Academy.
In addition, the development budget provided to the region by AFL Victoria is received and expended at the discretion of the independent Commissioners.
The Commission is a public company limited by guarantee, which each member league, umpiring association and club having the ability to elect the local Commissioners at the expiry of their three year terms.
